Last Friday was another road trip for both my travel buddy Lew and I. We went to Sharjah. We have not planned it, it was a spur of the moment since it was the weekend and nothing else important to do. The drive was about 50 km long by taking Road E11 and it took us about an hour to reach our first and only stop in Sharjah, Central Souq. It was 4:30 in the afternoon so there was not much time to roam around Sharjah and see other attractions. But aside from Central Souq, we were able to see the Fish Market (for both whole saler and retailer side), Fruit and Vegetable Market and the Khalid Lagoon.
What fascinates me with Dubai is that they have to be the first, tallest, biggest and most expensive. First they constructed the tallest building in the world, then they have to build the biggest mall (please correct me if I’m wrong if it’s still the biggest), lots of luxury cars and now the First Tram in the Gulf Region at a cost of $1.2 Billion.
Dubai Tram Phase One, a 10-kilometer (six-mile) light rail system ,was built by French and Belgian Companies and was inaugurated on November 11, 2014.
