Dallas, Texas – My Travel and Rants

What to do in Mineral Wells, Texas?

It was a spur of the moment when we head out to Mineral Wells in Texas, it was about 62 miles away and an hour drive from Hurst.  The drive was faster than what google suggested, which was about an hour and 28 minutes.  It must be the President’s Day holiday. No traffic.

I have not researched about Mineral Wells, it was just a suggestion from my friend that we should go there while the weather is good.  Oh, it supposed to be winter this time but based on the weather we are experiencing now and what we read about the weather forecast, it will be an early Spring. My kind of weather.  Short pants and Flip Flop time baby!

A Bad Dinner Experience at AllGood Cafe in Deep Ellum, Dallas, Texas

Of all the days to be humiliated, why it was on my birthday on Jan 28? And of all people, it was from this rude, obnoxious, old goat owner of AllGood Cafe’, Mike Schneider.

Road trip to Sacramento, California – Day 1

As a kid in The Philippines watching TV Series such as The Beverly Hill Billies and Dallas, I often wondered what the rest of America was like.

I have been fortunate to travel to many places in the world including The Middle East, Europe, Asia and now finally realizing my dream of seeing America by car.

Thai Thip Restaurant in Hurst, Texas

I have been craving for something and couldn’t figure out what, until my friend and I passed by Thai Thip Restaurant in Hurst. I thought, hmm maybe it is a Thai spice I was craving for.  I think it is as I have not eaten a really good Thai food for a long time since last November of 2014 in Bangkok, Thailand (Mali Restaurant, which is for me by far the best Thai Restaurant in the world).

Thai food sounds good and it was around lunch time. Wow! Thai Thip was packed. I’ve never seen Thai Thip this packed. The few times that we’ve been here was either after lunch or before their closing time, and usually there were only few tables occupied (sometimes only us). But not this time.  I am glad.  They have the best tasting Thai Food in HEB area.

How I Got My South Korea Tourist Visa in Dallas, Texas, USA?

I also asked myself how I did that.  I was surprised as well.  As I am not a resident of United States of America, I took a chance to apply for a tourist visa at the South Korea Consulate in Dallas, Texas and fortunately I was provided a single entry which is valid for 90 days.

Abuelo’s Mexican Food Embassy, Hurst, Texas

It’s been a while since I had Mexican food and Abuelo’s in Hurst is probably one of the best I had so far. The place was packed even during weekdays.  Food was good and not that expensive, cost about $47/- for three person.

Fort Worth Stockyards

It was two days after Christmas in 2009 and a day before we leave Dallas for Thailand when my friend took me the famous Stockyards in Fort Worth, Texas.  Prior to that visit to Stockyards, we had our delicious late lunch at Zeke’s Fish & Chips (click here to read the article).

The Fort Worth Stockyards is a National Historic District located in Fort Worth, Texas north of the central business district. The stockyards are a former livestock market which operated under various owners from 1866 and has many bars and nightclubs like Billy Bob’s Texas.

The Fort Worth Stockyards are the last standing stockyards in the United States. Some Fort Worth volunteers still run the cattle drives today. They do it so that people can see what it was like in the 1800s.

I have a couple of photos that I would to share you and to understand what I am talking about. Read More

Zeke’s Fish & Chips in Fort Worth, Texas

Before we went to Fort Worth Stockyard my friend and I went to Zeke’s Fish & Chips and had a late lunch.  He mentioned this couple of times that whenever I visit Fort Worth, he’ll take me to Zeke’s.  He did and oh man the Cod fish was awesome.  A Fort Worth visitor shouldn’t miss.

Don’t be disgusted with the shape and color of the food; they may be shaped like turd but wait until you taste it.

Dallas, Texas – My Travel and Rants

It’s 11PM and I just finished watching a bootlegged DVD copy of Crazy Heart but still I can’t sleep, something tells me to write this travel of mine in Dallas few months ago.  I know, I know, I am always late with my travel journal, but what can I do when I’m working 12 hours a day, non-stop for four months?  I made a promise this month that I’m going to write more of my travel stories that are way past due, some months ago and some were even two years ago like my NASA tour.  Probably you may have noticed that I was keeping my promise.  Doin’ good eh?
