Cancun with Kids?

Mexico’s gorgeous Caribbean resort of Cancun has a reputation for Spring Break debauchery, but there are plenty of opportunities for travelers of all ages. Family holidays abroad can be stressful in areas swamped with drunken revelers,
but book anytime other than spring and you’ll find a calm coastline rich with natural beauty, wildlife and history. Relax on the beach, swim with dolphins, explore the jungle and play pirates with your kids on the stunning Yucatan peninsula.

The beaches in this stretch of the Caribbean are some of the most famous in the world, and with good reason. However currents are strong in certain areas, so try Playa Caracol and Playa Langosta. These beaches are protected by a barrier island and have clear, calm waters which are perfect for swimming with children. These waters were once the stomping ground of pirates, so take your kids to a pirate-themed dinner show while your other half checks out the large shopping mall right next to the beach.

Cancun has a stunning tropical jungle, so book a tour and get exploring! If you have older children, book an ATV tour or try zip-lining through the jungle canopy.  Alternatively, visit an eco-park to get an all-around experience of the Yucatan environment. Eco-parks such as XelHa and Xcaret offer protected areas to go snorkeling, swim with dolphins and sea turtles, visit aquariums and
explore the jungle in safety.  Get up-close and personal with the area’s flora and fauna and pretend you’re Indiana Jones while exploring Mayan relics, and your kids will learn some great lessons without even realizing it.
