Adventure Thailand ’09 – Fertility Cave, Pra Nang

I do apologize if some of the graphics in this article will offend someone, it is not intended to.  If I won’t publish the photos, the whole sense of this story won’t be completely narrated.  I’m sure most of my readers are matured and understanding.

Adventure Thailand ’09 – Phra Nang Beach

Oh my, it’s been a week since I published my last blog entry.  It is difficult sometimes to write a story when you are tired, stressed and restless.  But I had to do it; I have to finish the Thailand Adventure stories because in a month’s time I will be in Thailand again.

Anyway here’s my travel story in Phra Nang Beach, Krabi, Thailand.  Hope you enjoy and let me know what you think.

April 30, 2009Phra Nang beach is the last stop of our trip that day before we headed to our villa at the Sunrise Tropical Resort where we stayed on the east side of Railay Beach.  This beach in Krabi belongs to Railay peninsula, an area that can be reached only by boats, and that has three beaches. Amongst them I find this one to be the most beautiful. The sand is perfectly powdery, and the beach is surrounded by huge rocks, a beach-lovers and climbers paradise.

Adventure Thailand ’09 – Paradise Island, Krabi

After seeing the Koh Hong Lagoon, the next stop of our Island tour that day was Paradise Island and it was probably the most beautiful Island I have ever seen in my life.  You may agree with me after seeing the photos that I took, but being there is way better.

En” our boatman said that the island is called Paradise Island, I don’t know if he meant it looks like a paradise or the name of the island is Paradise.  Obviously it looks and feels paradise, but after Googling it no name of Paradise Island in Thailand came out.

Oh well, I guess one of our readers here will comment on that but for the mean time here are some photos.

Adventure Thailand ’09 – Koh Hong Lagoon

Koh Hong Lagoon is one of the places that we’ve been to when we were in Krabi, Thailand.  We rented a boat for the whole day and the boatman named En took us to some of the most amazing islands in Krabi.  We’ve visited Paradise Island (I am not really sure if this is the correct name but I will find out), Phra nang Cave and Koh Hong Lagoon which I will talk about in this article and a travel article won’t be complete without photos.  Yes, photos!

Koh Hong means Room Island, Koh means Island and Hong is room.

Why did they call this Room Island?

The name “Koh Hong” came from the island’s landforms having the Limestone Mountains surrounding the sea with a channel looking like a room gate.  That is how it was called Koh Hong or Room Island.

More photos after the jump.

Adventure Thailand ’09 – Railay Beach

(Caption: Beautiful Sunset at Railay Beach)

Railay Beach is a small peninsula located between the city of Krabi and Ao Nang. It is accessible only by boat due to the high limestone cliffs cutting off mainland access. These cliffs attract rock climbers from all over the world, but the area is also popular due to its beautiful beaches and a relaxing atmosphere. I and a friend of mine stayed at the Sunset Tropical Resort in East side of Railay.

The three main areas of Railay consist of West Railay, East Railay and Tonsai, with Tonsai catering more to climbers.

Here are some of the photos of Railay Beach.

Adventure Thailand ’09 – Sunrise Tropical Resort, Krabi

Like I mentioned on my previous post about flying to Krabi; the first night stay at the Sunrise Tropical Resort was just to crash and rest.  That night we had no time to see the surrounding of the resort and if I can recall it right we did not even have dinner.  The travel from Bangkok to Krabi was too exhausting and all I can think of is to get in to the bed and snore. zzzzzzz J

April 29, 2009 – Woke up late and missed the breakfast and had an early lunch at the Resort Restaurant.

But all I can say with this Resort is that, it was relaxing to stay there, the staffs are so accommodating and attentive to your needs, and very quiet.  I will definitely come back here.

Some interesting facts about Krabi, Thailand

(Caption: Satellite photograph of Krabi, Thailand)

Before I continue with my Krabi Adventure let me tell you some interesting facts about Krabi, Thailand.

According to Wikipedia, Krabi is a southern province on Thailand’s Andaman seaboard with perhaps the country’s oldest history of continued settlement. After dating stone tools, ancient colored pictures, beads, pottery and skeletal remains found in the province’s many cliffs and caves, it is thought that Krabi has been home to homo sapiens since the period 25,000 – 35,000 B.C.

In recorded times it was called the ‘Ban Thai Samor’, and was one of twelve towns that used, before people were widely literate, the monkey for their standard. At that time, c. 1200 A.D., Krabi was tributary to the Kingdom of Ligor, a city on the Kra Peninsula’s east coast better known today as Nakhon Si Thammarat.

Adventure Thailand ’09 – 3rd day, Flying to Krabi

(Caption: Overlooking Krabi)

April 28, 2009 – Our Air Asia flight from Bangkok to Krabi was around 1PM and we missed it!  We checked in half an hour before the flight time and we were told by the ground attendants that we can’t board the flight.  Unfortunately we can’t refund the ticket for some reason I don’t know.  Probably it was cheap; each ticket from Bangkok to Krabi cost about US$50.00, or probably the ticket was not refundable.  Obviously!  So, Lew bought another set of ticket and he got the 4:45 PM flight for the same day.  If I am not mistaken, it only took us an hour to reach Krabi Airport .  From the airport we took a taxi that took us to Aonang Port and cost THB600 and where we boarded a long tail boat to Railay beach.  We were booked at the Sunset Tropical Resort.  A villa, woohoo thanks to Lew.
