The Bayleaf Hotel, Intramuros, Philippines
I booked a Superior Room online for two days stay and what a surprise it was when I checked in found out that I was upgraded to a Deluxe Room. Unfortunately, my friend who traveled with me did not get an upgrade. The Bayleaf Hotel in Intramuros is a charming medium size hotel opposite of the country’s premier heritage site, Intramuros. The room is clean and well laid out contemporary design and decorated in an assortment of themed colors. Mine was in Mint Green.
It was almost 6PM when we checked in from the airport; there was still time to rest and dress up before my brothers and I have dinner. Since it was raining that night, we decided to have dinner at the hotel’s Sky Deck View Bar to have a panoramic view of the Manila Skyline and Intramuros Golf Course. Well, to our dismay it was raining at the deck as well, and all the tables with private umbrellas were already full, so the dinner I had planned with my friends and brothers were moved to the floor just below 9 Spoons Restaurant which had some wonderful life entertainment. The band was great and playing all old Beatles hits from the 60’s and 70’s. Great voices and sound exactly like the Fab Four! The food was good and drinks at reasonable prices, as well as attentive service and friendly staff. The only negative comment I have with the service is the late servings of food. It took at least half hour to serve the appetizer.
9 Spoons Restaurant is known to serve the best “Crispy Bagnet” and “Callos”, did not order the Bagnet but made sure that Callos is part of our dinner.
Here are some of the food we ordered.
- Eggplant Torta Tomatoes, onion, ampalaya, salted egg, rice, 220.00 + VAT
We also ordered Beef Kare-Kare, Some salad and Baked Salmon I think.
There are three Restaurants, Cioccolata Churros Café, 9 Spoons and Sky Deck View Bar but only a had a chance to eat at 9 Spoons.
Parking was not an issue, although they have a basement parking for guests I had the luxury to park in front of the hotel. The hotel has a very large covered arrival/parking area where it is supposedly for Hotel management and handicaps. The staff let me parked my car so that is a plus to their service.
I would highly recommend this hotel. Easy to get to, yet off the beaten path so no traffic noise and it are close to McDonalds, ATM and a mini mart all in the same complex.
I will definitely come back to this hotel, I need to try their famous Churros and eat the Skydeck.
