The Best Budget Holiday Around

Just a hop, skip and a jump away from Europe’s mainland is a holiday makers’ paradise, Majorca. The diverse and beautiful island offers tourists a variety of resorts and there are several travel companies offering holidays to Majorca on a budget.

Around ten million visitors come to the island each year in the search of sun, sea and sand. The island is referred to as either Majorca or Mallorca, the latter being the Spanish spelling. It’s so good they named it twice.   The main airport is situated in Palma and all the resorts are easily reached from there. With extremely cheap flights, this holiday will not break the bank. Palma, situated on the south side of the island, is worth exploring. This metropolitan city has a reputation for attracting the rich and famous and there is plenty to do from art galleries, sailing trips and shopping.

Once you get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the rest of the island opens up a wealth of opportunities. Perfect for the family, you could spend an entire week trawling round the many water parks the island has to offer. With so many attractions you will never have to worry about keeping the little nippers entertained. As well as water parks there are several zoos, a safari and even an aquarium.  The amount of activities is endless.  For a fun family day head to Marineland in Portals Nous for performing dolphins, sea-lions and parrots, a penguin pool, retiles, sharks and tropical fish. All in all, a perfect sea-life filled day.

Not just for families, the island is just a stone’s throw away from Ibiza and Majorca attracts some of the world’s best DJs.  Magaluf, on the south coast, offers the party goer the chance to bogey their boots off. One of the most famous of these clubs is BCM, which has a capacity of over seven thousand people. The town offers a huge array of choice from a Baywatch bar to several pubs and bars. ‘The strip’, the main party street, offers cheap drinks and funky music. This area is packed during the summer months with hundreds of stag and hen dos.

Don’t worry if you aren’t up for trawling around zoos or partying the night away, Majorca has some fantastic beach resorts. Puerto Pollensa is a perfect place to forget your worries and lie back on beautiful sandy beaches. Serving amazing food on the front there are several restaurants with friendly staff and fresh seafood. Within driving distance is the old town of Pollensa, with cobbled streets, markets and cafes. You could even take a day trip to Formentor, by car or by sea, with spectacular scenery and secluded beaches.
